Lesson FAQ's

What times do you run lessons?

We often run evening and weekend lessons but can accommodate other times with advanced notice.

Where do we meet you for the lesson?

We will provide final location details on confirmation of your booking. We often paddle around the East Northamptonshire area but paddle in other locations occasionally.

Can I book in advance?

Advanced booking is strongly recommended. We are exceptionally busy throughout the summer months.

Do I have to pay for my lesson in advance?

We require full payment to confirm your booking. Lesson times will not be confirmed until payment is received. We will either send you a payment link or provide details for BACS transfer.

Do you have a card machine?

We will have a mobile card reader with us, should you wish to book further sessions there and then.

Do you provide all the equipment?

Yes, we have everything you'll need including boards, paddles and life jackets (PFD's).

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear sports style clothes such as shorts/leggings and quick drying tops, just in case you fall in! You are welcome to wear a wetsuit if you want, but we don't have any for hire. Flat shoes, such as trainers, that you're happy to get wet are a must. We recommend small, slip on neoprene shoes available from most sports stores.

Should I bring anything with me?

It's always advisable to bring a change of clothes and a towel. You may wish to bring some food and a drink for afterwards. If you need any medication, such as insulin or an inhaler, please bring that. You may want to bring sunblock too!

What if I have a medical condition?

SUP is a very gentle sport that works the whole body, both as a strength and a cardio workout. To keep you as safe as possible, we need to know about any conditions that may impact on your ability to undertake any sport. We will keep this information completely confidential. We have a good working knowledge of most conditions as we are also healthcare providers! If you need an inhaler/insulin/medication etc with you at all times, we always carry a dry bag with us so your equipment won't get water damaged which you are welcome to put items in.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, you need to be able to swim at least 50 metres.

Is there a weight restriction?

Our boards are rated to carry unto 130kg.

Do you teach children?

Well behaved children are welcome from 12 years old upwards so long as they feel competent using our equipment. We reserve the right to ask for proof of age.

What if the weather is bad?

We keep a very close eye on the weather as poor and windy conditions are unsuitable to paddle in. If we decide the conditions are unsuitable for lessons, we will give you as much notice as possible but please be aware conditions can change on the day and forecasts are unreliable. We may not be able to contact you before you arrive. In the event of us cancelling, you will be able to reschedule your lesson or we will refund you, whichever you prefer.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require as much notice to cancel as possible. If more than 8 days notice is given, there is no cancellation fee. If 7 days, or less, notice of cancellation is given, there will be a cancellation fee of 25% per person booked.
